Any tiny holes, created by sewing machine needles, are protected with Gore-Seam tape, this completely seals every seam in the garment. Waterproof Durability The membrane of the Gore-Tex has a microporous structure, which is 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, so no water can and will not penetrate your garment, leaving you dry and warm. Breathable The pores of the membrane are 700 times larger than a water vapour molecule, this allows heat and perspiration to escape from the inside, whilst the garment is still waterproof from the outside. This balances out the amount of heat produced and the amount of heat emitted, to keep you comfortable and to aid concentration and performance. Windproof Thanks to the structure of the membrane of the Gore-Tex, it is also completely windproof. EASY CARE INSTRUCTIONS Gore-Tex products as well as being built to last, are very easy to take of too. Routine care and maintenance will not only extend the lifespan of the garment but will also ensure the highest of performance. "Wet out" can really spoil your day. This is when liquid saturates your garments outer fabric, which will leave you damp and clammy, as if your garment has leaked, even when it has not. To prevent this, all Gore-Tex shell fabrics are treated with an ultra thin treatment, this is called DWR, a durable water repellent polymer that is applied to outer fabric layer. DWR penetrates the fibres and lowers the surface tension of the fabric, this causes any water to roll off the outer layer of fabric, instead of being absorbed. This treatment (DWR) is not permanent. Exposure to dirt, detergents, insect repellent, wear and tear and other impurities can shorten its lifespan. However, the good news is that restoring the water repellency of your Gore-Tex shell is extremely easy to do. WASHING Machine warm wash (40 C, 104 F) rinse thoroughly. Do not use any fabric conditioner. Consult the outerwear care label for any additional instructions. BLEACHING No bleaching is allowed on any garment. IRON Using a warm steam iron, with a towel or piece of fabric between the garment and the iron. You do not need to iron the garment until completely dry. DRY Warm tumble dry. The warmth after washing is good for the garment because the heat will reactivate the DWR treatment. DRY CLEAN Please follow the manufacturers instructions REPLACEMENT Should anything go wrong with your garment, contact the retailer you purchased the item from with your receipt. The retailer who has a close working relationship with Gore, will then get in touch with the manufacturer for you. REPAIRS No matter how careful we are, unfortunately your garment may get damaged and need repair. Because of the intricate waterproof construction of your garment, you will have to contact the garments manufacturer or your nearest Gore office if repairs are needed. Minor repairs can be done with the Gore-Tex fabric repair kit. WATER REPELLENT TREATMENT Wash your garment, rinse it and put it into the tumble dryer. Make sure you have followed the manufacturers instructions. Washing removes the contaminates and the heat from the dryer helps to restore the DWR treatment on the garments fabric surface. If water does fail to bead up on the surface of your clean and tumble dried garment, the DWR treatment has reached the end of its life span. However, the garments water repellency CAN be restored by following the manufacturers instructions. Gore recommends applying a topical water repellency restorative for outdoor fabrics, which is available at your local outdoor retailer.
