Grip at 60% maximum pressure with the
top 3 fingers on the left hand and the middle 2 on the right
hand, and at 30% maximum pressure with the rest
Ball position appropriate to club selection
Middle of stance for shortest clubs, progressing
forward until:
Opposite left heel for longest clubs
Eyes focused on the back of the ball in
the lower rear quadrant
Whole of the left hand on the grip with
only about half an inch of the grip showing beyond it.
Knees very slightly and comfortably flexed
/ just ‘unlocked’
Assume correct posture to determine the correct distance from
the ball.
Check swing
Imagine the chin is resting on a shelf
throughout
Turn behind the ball (shirt buttons over
right foot) don’t sway away from it
Head moves 2-3 inches to the right
Maintain the spinal angle throughout the
backswing and downswing to maintain ‘height and width’
in the swing / the head cannot lift upor down (See
illustration)
Extend the arms through impact and beyond
Have the desire to strike into the ground and take a divot.
