| • The ball curves in flight
to the right of your intended target.
Diagnosis
Faults in the set up could be….
- The clubface could be in an open position (pointing right)
at address.
- The grip may be in a weak position. (One or both hands too
far to the left of the grip). (See photo right).
- The body alignment may be aiming too far to the left of the
target. (Especially shoulders).
- The ball may be positioned too far forward in the stance.
- You may be stood too far away from the ball.
- You may be crouching / Poor posture.
Faults in the swing may be….
- The body weight may stay 50/50 during the backswing. This
will be because you are trying to keep your head still and so
restricting essential movement to the right of the ball
(See photo right below).
- The backswing may be arm dominant with no attempt to turn
the shoulders.
- There may be a fundamental misunderstanding of where power
in a golf swing is obtained from. This results in a golfer attacking
a ball to early in the downswing with the body resulting in
an early rotation of the hips and shoulders causing an out to
in swing path.
- The body may be in front of the ball at impact.
- There is in 100% of all golfers who slice, a lack of understanding
of how the hands/forearms rotate through impact in order to
return a clubface to its original position
