| The ball sets off left of where
you aiming and continues on that line.
Diagnosis
Faults in the set up could be….
- A strong grip (see photo right) One or both
of the hands too far to the right of the grip.
- A ball positioned too far forward in the stance
- The stance being too narrow (see photo left)
causing the shoulders to work excessively.
- The club could simply be aiming left.
Possible swing faults could be….
- An incomplete shoulder turn (90 °) in the backswing.
- Starting the downswing by “coming over the top”
(See over the top) This is an aggressive
attack of the shoulders to initiate the downswing
- The weight may remain on the right leg during the whole of
the swing with no lateral shift to the left side. This causes
excessive rotation which causes fat, thin, sliced and pulled
shots. (See reverse pivot)
