Golfsupport

Check setup

  • ensure the grip is neutral - showing 2-2½ knuckles on the left hand with right palm over left thumb gripping mainly with the fingers (see photo right)
  • position the ball appropriately for the club being used
  • middle of stance for the shortest clubs
  • opposite the left heel for the longest clubs
  • align the feet, knees, hips and shoulders parallel to the target line (line through the ball to the target)
  • set the feet with the outer edges of the heels in line with the outer edges of the shoulders (see photo Left)

Check swing

  • initiate the backswing with the left shoulder and left arm by pushing the clubhead straight back from the ball in a one piece movement keeping the clubhead close to the ground for the first 1-1½ feet of the swing(see photo right)
  • continue the shoulder turn into the backswing until it is complete at the top of the backswing with the chin over the left shoulder and the back pointing at the target
  • initiate the downswing by pulling the club straight down towards the ground with the left arm(see illustration Left)
  • keep the back to the target whilst the downswing is begun
  • pull the clubhead staight down to waist height with the left arm
  • let the clubhead swing freely to impact whilst turning and transferring the bodyweight from the right to the left leg
  • swing smoothly up to a finishing pose
