10. The Throughswing

Knowing where you need to finish a golf swing firstly means repetition and secondly aids balance. These 2 things surely encourage more consistent shots.
It makes sense!

As the body drives forwards through impact and the arms extend towards the target they will now begin to fold/relax.

This takes the club to a position behind the head, horizontal to the ground. I like to say ‘Put the club through your ears’. See from the bottom picture how it is across the back of the head through the ears. It is not touching anywhere which means ‘Grip Pressure’ is maintained.

Notice: - All the weight is on the left side
- The right knee has relaxed and driven towards the left knee which automatically places the right foot into a straight upright position, rendering no weight but acting solely as a balance aid.

Notes:
The pose tells me a little story, as it is a chain reaction to movements preceding it.
- Work hard at the right finishing position and it will be a sure sign all is well throughout the swing.
- Watch the Guy’s on TV. How many of them do you see not making a Pose? NON. There must be lots of good reasons for it!

General Notes:
The golf swing you have learnt will undoubtedly find its own flaws and errors will occur from time to time. The longer you put off seeking Professional PGA advice the harder it will be to rectify.

No matter how hard I try to fix a pupils golf swing I know it will not last forever. Remember you are only human and bad habits have a tendency to creep back.

Find a local PGA Professional you are happy with and don’t leave your next visit too late.
