The most obvious thing to start with but often
given little importance is knowing how to align the blade to the target.
Follow these 4 simple steps to clubface alignment.
Step 1. Golf shot routine
regardless of distance should always start by standing behind the golf
ball keeping the ball in line with your intended target.
Step
2 .From this position pick a point
no further than 1 metre in front of the ball, be it a blade of grass,
an old divot or a flower head which is in line with your intended
target. (if nothing is obvious in front of the ball then the line
also extends behind the ball therefore pick a point there) This
line shortens your target and is known as ‘The Target Line’.

Step 3.
Position the feet so that the outside edges
of the feet are level with the width of the shoulders and place
the ball at a point central to the width of the feet. Position an
8 iron behind the ball and allow the butt of the club to rest on
the inside of the left thigh.

Step
4. The leading edge of a golf club is the bottom edge of
the clubface, the point that rests on the floor. This
should be sat at 90 degrees to the target line.

From this position the club is now set
ready to accept the correct positioning of the hands.
