Lesson 4
Time for another refresher.
Read the items related to Aim,
Grip, Posture,
Stance and Body
Alignment in the Fundamentals
section before continuing.
- Adapt the Set Up routine as in
the first 3 lessons, by now this should be feeling reasonably
comfortable.
- Select a target of around 120
yards.
|
|
 |
Initiate the swing with a one piece movement
of the body, turning the left hip and shoulder together to the
point at halfback as shown here.
|
|
From this point remember the independent movement of the left arm
as it raises the club vertically as the shoulders continue to turn.
At the top of the back swing notice:
 |
- Right knee has remained flexed and in its starting position.
- Left knee has moved a little towards it
- Hips have rotated about 45 degrees
- Shoulders have turned 90 degrees
- Left shoulder is behind the ball at this point because
the head has been allowed to move to the right 2-3 inches.
- The club shaft has not passed horizontal.
- The club shaft is parallel to the target line.
|
|
 |
Initiating the down swing in the correct
fashion is very important. I refer to it As ‘pulling the
chain’ which is a
Movement governed by the left arm Pulling straight back down
to the half way Position (see photo left). |
|
From this half down position, as the hands are passing the right
knee, it is time to release the whole right side through the hitting
area. (see photo above right and below left)
 |
Forward momentum’s means you need to know where to
finish a golf swing so guess what?
Strike that
Pose!
|
NOTES
A full swing means lots of movements are required to work in synchronisation
therefore in the early stages ball striking quality may diminish.
Persevere and remember never to be afraid to go back a lesson to
re install some confidence.
